vacation!!

Ben and I were lucky enough to work in a MUCH needed vacation last week. We hadn't been on a true, relaxing trip since our honeymoon two years ago! We were happy to enjoy the time away before the baby comes.

We flew into LA, spent some time in Ojai, CA and saw a couple different areas like Santa Barbara, Santa Monica and Hollywood. We got in lots of sleep, did a lot of walking and site seeing and even saw two movies!

lots of moving!!

No, we're not moving anywhere so don't get any crazy ideas ;)

First, I have just about moved everything out of the "little" room in preparation for the nursery. My little sewing table (that I plan to put back in action very soon) and our computer desk now reside in the "guest bedroom". Don't worry, there is still plenty of room for visitors (hint, hint).

Second, and what I consider WAY more interesting and fun is the baby's movements. All of the sudden she is one crazy tiny thing living in my stomach! There are certain parts of the day that I can feel her a lot more, other times its just little flutters every now and then. A lot of the movements are big enough for even Ben to feel, which I think is pretty fun for him :)

sore throat, coughing, congestion...oh my!

its been over a week now and i am REALLY tired of not feeling well. i am out of ideas for home remedies too--since taking over-the-counter medications are out to protect the little one growing inside my belly.

i tried the neti pot. so far it hasn't really seemed to make much of a difference at all. i'm still using it, but i still feel exactly the same. the cough is really the worst though. it keeps me up at night too so i can't really sleep. i've been propping myself up with a million pillows and trying to sleep sitting up. it helps a little, but it doesn't make for a restful night of sleep.

i'm ready for this to go away!!!!!!!!

gateway cup

last night ben and i met some friends at lafayette square in st. louis for some cycling action. this marked day one of the gateway cup. probably going to miss the other three days of it because of work--but it was really fun!
i would have tried to snap some pics but #1 it was dark out and #2 my little point-and-shoot camera does not do well with really any kind of movement at all! a photo may not do it justice anyway.
the best part of the evening, though, was the cool 70 degree night we had. it may have dropped down a little more than that even by the time we left. i hope this means more fall-like weather is here to stay!! yay for having a reason to wear a long sleeve shirt :)

morning at the botanical gardens

last saturday i actually did NOT have to work. crazy! what do "regular" people do on saturdays?
i was at a loss, but luckily, my friend natalie suggested a morning at the botanical gardens. and to top it off, it's free before noon for city residences!

here are a few pics from our mini adventure.......

first of all, these lily pads were HUGE and then they had these beautiful blown glass ornament-looking things floating in the water. what a beautiful scene.










one of the areas had all different types of food plants. first...i guess i have never really thought about where peanuts actually come from and i was amazed that it look just like regular greenery! and i thought this little pepper plant was just so cute.










this flower was really cool. it's petals were little tubes!
