Circle Skirt for a Ladybug Picnic

Addison's cousin Lucie is having a 'Ladybug Picnic' themed first birthday party in just a couple weeks. We'll be back in St. Louis for the festivities.


Since she had nothing in her wardrobe, I thought this was a good occasion to dust of the sewing machine and get to crafting!

Thanks to my awesome (and inspiring) friend Em for this great tutorial on circle skirts. I quickly decided that if it was as fun and easy as it looked, I should make a matching one for Lucie too! I think it turned out pretty cute. Luckily I found some coordinating pink tops at the store.

I added their names to the back of the waistband:










And of course the outfit wouldn't be complete without a matching hair accessory!

The Zoo...in January!

Yes, last Thursday the temperatures in St. Louis rose to the upper 60s and we had to take advantage of both the day and our gift of tickets to the children's petting zoo--a section of the St. Louis Zoo in Forest Park. Addison had a great time seeing the animals. She didn't seemed to be scared of anything and got to practice her newest skill of walking with the assist of only one hand (instead of two)!
